One Key Takeaway From 16.3

Athletes ready...

Judges ready…

3,2,1, GO!!!

You grab the barbell and smash out your snatches because the weight is light and quickly move over to the pull up bar...

You take your time, chalk up, and take a look up at the bar...

Everybody is cheering words of encouragement and coaching cues and they all desperately want to see you get over the bar... You jump up full of adrenaline and have your first attempt. The kip is a little off and you miss... This fires you up even more!! You have a quick turn around and jump straight back up only to miss again... For the next 6 or so minutes you keep doing the same... You are almost there but just can't quite get over the bar...

You feel frustrated and disappointed in knowing that you gave it your all and your all is not good enough to get that first muscle up!

You're not alone there are many more out there who are in the same position!

This feeling of disappointment and frustration is one that should be remembered! I want you to hold onto that feeling! I have not written this to rub it into those who couldn't quite get there. My reason is quite the opposite actually.

My hope is that this gives you ammunition for the year ahead!

There are going to be times during the next year that you do not feel like training because it is too cold, you had a big day at work, you're tired, it's too hot or you had to go to your friends dogs bar mitzvah... Whatever the reason may be when one of these excuses for not training pops up and you decide not to train you are setting yourself up to feel like this again... Disappointed and frustrated...

If you truly want to accomplish something you must put in the work! On the cold mornings, on the days when your legs are sore from yesterday's wod, the times when your friends invite you out when you have planned a training session. Everybody else has the same pressures and stresses in life you are not the only one. When a thought of skipping training or a distraction comes up when you are planning to train remember what it felt like when you were standing underneath the bar unable to get over it!!!

The choices you make at these times are yours and yours alone…

You can chose to show up even when it is tough, cold, you’re sore, you sacrifice a social function or whatever it may be…

If you put in the work now when the times comes you will be able to perform!

Stay focused! Stay determined!
